Do you ever realize how many rules we live by in life? Consider the following categories to name a few:
Fashion
Relationships
Etiquette
Boundaries
Censorship
Death
Dont wear white after Labor day
Wear that with this, not that
If you see him, you cant belong to me
If I dated her, you cant date her
If I am with you, I cant be with them
I should be married by 30
Its my duty to have kids
Elbows off the table
Dont say that word
Dont show that body part
and on and on and on.
What would life be like if we did not have so many rules? We all had a time in our lives when life was easy. We lived, we loved, we experienced, we dreamed and we discovered. What changed?
As children the world is still open to us. We have not been affected by discouragements, so-called realities, and limitations.
As children we love everyone. As we get older we are taught and programmed that we should love only one partner.
People live in different ways all over the earth. What makes us think our way is so special and correct?
Do people look to their parents and peers to decide how their path should go? Do they look to past traditions, rather than the future and how it changes? Why is it so hard to look outside the box, into a world of endless possibilities?
Do they look to religion for answers, and more rules?
Don't they create stories and fiction and myths to satisfy the reality they truly crave? They build monsters and weave epic adventures and sweet romance. They bury themselves in fake worlds operated by key strokes and levers. They meet at parks with foam weaponry and robes, immersed in a persona that would best resemble who they wish they could be.
They create little communities of alter-realities and double lives.
